The trumpet sound and echo loud,
Remember me as I sleep,
Say a prayer for me for I cannot,
I gave my last breathe for thee,
*For soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest.
All gave some; but some gave all. Today we remember those that gave all. Remember these brave warriors of America had dreams and aspirations. When the dark cloud form in the distance, they heard the call to arms. They felt trepidation yet without hesitation they ran to the sounds of the guns. They set aside their dreams and aspirations. To defended our country, our people, our custom and our traditions. To defended our future. They sacrifice all to hold the line.
Their families and friends mourn the loss and carrying their memories for all their lives. To many of us, their names are forever unknown. These brave warriors of America gave their last full measure during peace and war for an ideal greater than themselves. They gave their lives for America. A nation with a covenant with the Almighty. What is our gratitude for this so great a sacrifice? How do we honor them? Lt. Gen. Chesty Puller said, "Valour is not found in the heart or hand of a man, but in the eyes of his comrades well served." Many of America's warrior had continued to serve long after leaving military service. Now sleep eternally. These American warriors served us well.
Our national gratitude is to honor them by remembering them. On Memorial Day let us pray in thanksgiving to their courage, fidelity and valour. Today, briefly, we share in the loss with their families and friends. General George Patton said it best, "We should thank God such men lived".
